5-Year-Old Micah Kim & the Fight for Life-Sustaining Treatment

Texas Right to Life joins the countless Pro-Lifers and faithful Christians praying for the Kim family in the midst of the tragic case of Micah Kim.

The Texas Right to Life Patient Advocacy Team was honored to assist the Kim family over the last two weeks, alongside other Pro-Life advocates, especially the Thomas More Society.

Our team assisted the family as they navigated treatment decisions, and also disagreed with the hospital over the proper care for Micah. While Micah’s injuries were serious, in this case, the hospital administration and ethics committee did more harm to the child by withholding necessary life-sustaining treatment and seeking to coerce the family into abandoning hope and prematurely withdrawing all care. Texas Right to Life strongly condemns the actions of the Austin hospital.

In 2025 alone, Texas Right to Life has served 48 families that faced similar pressure, coercion, and opposition to treatment that seems to stem from a fundamental disagreement about the proper ethical approach to ill and dying patients.

A just and humane society should always err on the side of Life for vulnerable patients.

While Americans watch the horror of assisted suicide being legalized in more states, we must see that the same anti-Life bias is present in our medical institutions in Texas and too often fuels the opposition to continued basic life-sustaining treatment for patients like Micah Kim.

Please join us in continuing to pray for the Kim family and all the hearts broken by this tragedy.
